Henry Weymouth 1857 collection Waterloo and Quatre Bras

Henry Weymouth was an English gentleman who visited the Battlefields of Waterloo and Quatre Bras in 1857. On his return he had the items and two stalks of corn cut from the battlefield mounted together in a frame. This was his personal memento of his visit. We should be eternally grateful to Henry Weymouth for what he found was unique and beautiful. His finds included a British officers shako plate unearthed under the plough at Hougoumont and 2 Rare french eagles. Amongst other rare items which you can view below.

His display was eventually bought into the Bishop collection and exhibited at the Strand London in 1922.

In 1974 the display was bought at auction by the proprietor of the Waterloo museum in Broadstairs and displayed there from 1990 until 1999.

Placed in storage the display came to me and now everyone can appreciate what Henry Weymouth found way back in 1857.

The original frame was damaged beyond repair in transit and i have now removed the items and original handwrittem descriptions from the backing board.

Below is a photo of the items in the same order as they appeared in the original frame with their original descriptions underneath.

Each item when purchased will come with the original handwritten location description of that item except for one of the buttons , one ear of corn and the Light division bugle badge which will come with a copy of the display and a copy of the original handwritten description.
