The Derek Saunders collection consists of numerous items found on the battlefield between 1979 and 1985. During this time Derek Saunders (owner of the Broadstairs waterloo museum and
member of the Waterloo Committee) led an expedition to clean and rebuild the Hougoumont Well.
Some of the items found during the excavation and his walks around the battlefield are now offered for sale. Most went to auction when the museum was sold but a few were given to a friend
in recognition of his help setting up the museum.
All items in this section are either from the well (Which was excavated to a depth of 60ft) or the battlefield and are marked accordingly.
All items from this collection will come with a copy of the original signed finders note from Derek presenting the items he had found on the battlefield to his friend.
Finds from the well will also include a copy of the note stating that all the items found were from the well.
